La Intel ha la sede a Santa Clara in California ed è stata fondata da Robert Noyce e Gordon Moore nel 1968.
Intel ha sviluppato nel corso degli anni ottimi processori per ogni tipo di computer: desktop, server, laptop, notebook.
Intel Corp è quotato al mercato azionario NASDAQ con il codice INTC e ISIN US4581401001 mentre la concorrente AMD è quotata alla borsa NYSE con il nome Advanced Micro Devices codice AMD ISIN US0079031078.
Sia Intel che AMD sono aziende multinazionali produttrici di semiconduttori come processori, dispositivi di memoria, microprocessori, cpu, applicazioni informatiche, chipset, componenti di rete, schede video, motherboard - schede madri.
INTEL e AMD si contendono e suddividono il percato dei processori, cpu, microprocessori sviluppando e mettendo sul mercato processori sempre più veloci ed efficienti.

Processori AMD

Guida ai principali processori AMD a 32 bit e a 64 bit: innovazioni, semplicità, elevate prestazioni.
Tutti i processori AMD64, inclusi i processori AMD Athlon™ 64 FX, AMD Athlon™ 64 e AMD Athlon™ 64 Mobile, sono abilitati alla tecnologia Enhanced Virus Protection per una migliore protezione contro i virus che colpiscono ed infettano il PC.
La tecnologia HyperTransport è costituita da un collegamento punto-punto ad alta velocità e bassa latenza progettato in modo da aumentare addirittura anche di 48 volte rispetto ad alcune tecnologie esistenti, la velocità di comunicazione fra i circuiti integrati su computer, server, sistemi incorporati ed apparecchiature per reti e telecomunicazioni.
La tecnologia HyperTransport serve per:

  • Fornire molta più larghezza di banda delle tecnologie attuali per un computer più efficiente
  • Utilizzare un bassa latenza nelle risposte e un basso numero di pin per un pc più veloce
  • Mantenere la compatibilità con i bus per PC di vecchio tipo e allo stesso tempo essere estensibile ai bus dotati della nuova SNA (Systems Network Architecture).
  • Apparire più trasparente ai sistemi operativi ed avere un effetto ridotto sui driver delle periferiche.

Le CPU Amd sono processori molto veloci e offrono un’ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo e spesso hanno la caratteristica EE Energy Saver ovvero i processori AMD consumano pochi watt.
La tecnologia cool and quiet l’AMD la chiama “Cool’n'Quiet™” ed ha ricevuto il riconoscimento speciale ENERGY STAR® nel 2005 dal U.S. Environmental Protection Agency per i progressi riscontrati nella tecnologia dell’eficienza energetica dei computer e offre notevoli vantaggi:
